We tried to contact the president of the West Coast IPA Appreciation Club of Queensland to organise this event but the club didnât exist. Because of this, and also sensing a gap in the burgeoning West Coast IPA Appreciation Club market, we decided to create our own. We called it the West Coast IPA Appreciation Club of Queensland. Or WCIPAACQ for short.
We were to host our inaugural meet on February 24 but the cool kids at Crafty Pint had skilfully renamed that day âLocal Beer Dayâ. So we thought, 'what if we combine the two'?! Enter the West Coast IPA Appreciation Club of Queensland: Local Beer Day Meet. Or WCIPAACQLBDM for short.
To celebrate WCIPAACQLBDM we brewed a West Coast IPA with the maker of arguably the greatest West Coast IPA in Australia, and hyper local in an international sense, Seven Mile Brewing. You probably wouldnât be surprised that we wanted to call it the West Coast IPA Appreciation Club of Queensland: Local Beer Day Meet West Coast IPA. Or WCIPAACQLBDMWCIPA for short. But unfortunately it wouldnât fit on the label. So we have to live with White Knuckle West Coast. Or WKWC for short. Itâs choc full of stories, good times and Simcoe and Nelson - because thatâs the way we roll. With the punches.
Our club motto clearly states, âOne West Coast IPA is great, but eight is greaterâ, so weâre tapping another seven even local-er West Coast IPAs on the day - just to stay on brand - of course. But more about that another time.
And before you ask, of course we're going to wheel out the WCIPAACQLBDM Smash Burgers for the day. One pattie, two patties, six patties - who are we to judge? Just donât do seven - we will judge you for that.
